When I got to walk around the downtown circle in Indy growing up, it felt like a treat. I would look up at Lady Victory and it felt like I was in the center of where life was BIG. There was always an event going on, from sports to the symphony to the lighting of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument during the holidays. The world literally revolved around this epicenter of my childhood.
And downtown Indy is even more vibrant today. When you’re on the circle, it feels electric. Like there are sparks igniting, and you get to be part of that flame.
When I walk Circle City now, I’m taken back to the location of my childhood, but with the feeling of maturing into modernity. A mix of nostalgia and contemporary. Where it all began and to where we are headed.
This piece has same juxtaposition: the elegant and fierce Lady Victory in an ivory tone we associate with vintage times long past encounters my present-day signature Abstracture style in a geometric symphony that allows her to shine. I can’t wait to see how you shine today.
